The rock tongue above lake Ringedalsvatnet is a day hike in endurance format: long, fully exposed to the weather and with no shortcuts. In return you finish standing on a rock tongue jutting free above the valley — pack time buffers and warm layers. 27 km round trip — plan at least 10h, start early.

A UNESCO fjord in postcard perfection: from water level the Seven Sisters falls feel a size bigger still, and abandoned mountain farms cling to the walls above you. Trails climb steeply out of the fjord basin to viewpoint ledges. Fjord kayak at 7am — mirror-like water, no cruise ships.

Norway's second-largest island, wild and lightly visited: jagged ridgelines like the Segla wall rise straight from the sea, while below you paddle sheltered sounds with sea eagles overhead. The approaches are short, the views outsized. Segla hike (4h) — the most spectacular peak in Northern Norway.

Norway's most famous rock pulpit: a well-built, occasionally steep trail brings you to the platform high above the Lysefjord. Go early or late — at midday you share the rock with half of Europe. The Pulpit Rock — 604 m sheer above the Lysefjord.

Norway's classic ridge walk: after the boat across lake Gjende you climb onto the ridge dividing two lakes of different colours — glacial green below, deep blue above. A long day with easy scrambling and maximum views. Ridge hike between two differently coloured lakes.

An alpinism valley with a colossal backdrop: walls of well over a thousand metres rise above Romsdalen, among them the notorious Troll Wall. But between ridge classics like the Romsdalseggen and via ferrata routes, the rest of us find our line too. Trollveggen — Europe's tallest vertical rock face.

Frozen waterfalls in an industrial valley: in winter the shaded gorge at Rjukan gathers one of Europe's densest collections of ice climbs — from short practice falls to long lines. Municipal skate hall with 1,430 sqm indoors and 600 sqm outdoors: a street floor with a micro ramp, a suspended bowl upstairs and a full-size vert ramp in between. Skateboarding only; board and helmet loan are included in the entry fee. On weekdays the hall opens at 2pm and at 11am on weekends — a day ticket is 95 NOK for adults, 115 NOK at the weekend.
