The 3 golden technique rules

Factor 1: Legs – back – arms

Concept: Pulling with the arms exhausts you instantly and loads the back wrongly. Tip: Power comes primarily from the legs, the back passes it on, the arms merely finish the stroke.

Factor 2: 1:2 rhythm

Concept: Rushing up the slide ruins endurance and the boat’s run. Tip: The recovery takes twice as long as the drive – gliding is part of the movement.

Factor 3: Upright with core tension

Concept: A rounded back under pulling load is the classic rowing injury. Tip: Upright seat position, stable midsection, loose grip – that way the power flows without damage.

Safely onto the water

Pro tip: Set the damper to 3–5 instead of 10 – rowing is not weightlifting. Clean leg drive at moderate resistance builds tomorrow’s watts.
