Factor 1: Absorb the landing centred

Concept: Fall backward on landing and you lose control, risking a fall onto an outstretched hand. Tip: Keep your weight centred and low, land with bent knees – the sloped landing turns your fall into forward motion.

Factor 2: The ollie is the base for almost every trick

Concept: Pop off the edge or the ramp instead of your own leg power, and you'll struggle with control on any bigger feature. Tip: Extend your legs the moment you leave the lip instead of jumping – practise it flat before your first kicker.

Factor 3: Grabs before spins, all four 180s before the 360

Concept: Start rotating right away and you skip exactly the airborne stability that grabs train. Tip: Lock in straight airs and the indy grab first, then initiate the 180 from your shoulders – master all four variants before attempting the 360.
