Cypher

The circle that forms when breakers come together: one person goes to the middle, dances a round, steps back. Practice room, stage and battle in one.

What matters

The cypher is where breakers tend to learn fastest – and it runs on unwritten rules nobody announces. The two that matter most: never step into the middle while somebody is dancing, because collisions during power moves end badly. And don't bite, meaning don't openly copy another dancer's moves or style inside the same circle. Originality isn't just a point of honour here; it is an Olympic judging criterion. The beginner's mistake is rarely a lack of skill, it's timing – going in too early and staying too long. Watch from the outside first and keep your first round short. And show only what you truly own; social pressure tempts moves you aren't ready for.
