Bora Bora

Gesellschaftsinseln

Paddling stays inside the sheltered lagoon — flat water, with stingrays and turtles passing under the board. The guided excursion lasts two hours and is set up for beginners; board, paddle and life jacket are included. Water is calmest in the dry season from May to October, and paddling works year-round.

Moorea

Windward Islands

The lagoon is the paddling ground: towards the reef pass, then along the coast eastward towards Maatea. The bottom is muddy in places, so water shoes help getting in and out. One operator runs tours on transparent boards, 2.5 to 7 hours depending on the programme.

Tikehau

Tuamotu

Paddling runs motu to motu, with stops at the hoa, the channels cut into the reef rim. When the maramu blows in the southern winter, head east into the wind first and the way back comes easier. The lodge on the motu provides paddleboards; children only under parental supervision.
