The honest answer first: the ribbon is the trickiest of the four remaining competition apparatus — one wrong wrist angle and an elegant spiral turns into a knot. Unlike ball or hoop, where mistakes often "just" cost balance, the ribbon makes technical errors instantly visible: if the fabric lies motionless on the floor after a knot, or the knot isn't undone, there's a deduction.
That's exactly why ribbon technique is less a strength question than a geometry question.
