Two- to three-day rides from Kochkor up onto the jailoo — the high summer pastures — crossing a pass at around 3,300 m; the lake itself sits at 3,016 m. The CBT horses are calm mountain animals and guides keep a walking pace, so beginners manage it. Season is June to September, with nights in yurts run by shepherd families.
