Torn palms, shoulder trouble on rings, ankles at dismount: the injury patterns that only happen at specific apparatus – and how to avoid them from day one.

Besides rips, there are two other patterns that clearly map to a specific apparatus: shoulder overload on the rings from sustained straight-arm holding, and ankle loading at dismount from high bar, parallel bars or rings from over two meters up. Knowing these three patterns lets you counter them specifically instead of just being generically "careful."
A rip isn't random bad luck, it's the result of too much friction at a spot where the skin can't keep up. Skin that's too soft tears just as easily as callus that's too thick and "layered" with an edge.
File protruding callus smooth after every session instead of letting it grow. An even, not-too-thick callus layer is the best protection – thicker layers tear later, but deeper and more painfully.
Straight-arm holding on the rings challenges shoulders differently than any other apparatus – no swing, just sustained tension. Build shoulder stability slowly and stop immediately at a "burning" rather than "pulling" sensation.
High bar, parallel bars and rings dismounts land from well over two meters. Unlike floor, where the spring floor helps out, here you often land on a separate crash mat that gives less. Control the landing position before you increase the height.
